Blue Chip COVID-19 Screening Tool & Protocol

BCBA has developed a screening tool to assist our participants in helping minimize or stop the spread of COVID-19.

We ask our Staff and Volunteers to use the process established for participants in any activity and MANDATORY for all entrants for any indoor activity. Also to refer back to this page often for reference and observe any changes that may be made to the recommended protocol since they are fluid. BECAUSE WE ARE DEALING WITH THE SCHOOL BOARD WE MUST BE EXTRA DILLIGENT SO WE DONT JEOPARDIZE OUR ABILITY TO ACCESS THE GYMS.

Participants need to do their own risk/reward calculation and decide if they want to participate by asking their coach what protocol, if any, they are following and considering the fact it may be difficult to maintain compliance to recommended procedures.

Current Statistics

CDC posted rates as of 6/19 (hospitalization rate data lags so actual rate is from 6/6)
.275% 65 & older
.14% 50-64 yrs
.005% 18-49 yrs
.004% 0-17 yrs

St Johns County Statistics

Currently mandated BCBA Protocol to enter an indoor activity and suggested protocol for outdoor activity.

STEP 1

Within 1 hour of activity, the guardian gets entry approvals needed for all participants and entrants through the screening tool.

If entrant does not present approval certificate timestamped within 1 hour of activity on their phone then staff or coach will ask them to scan the QR code on the sheet below with their phone camera or to go to bluechipelite.com/covid if a sheet is not available.

Staff and Coaches should have this poster in their possession at all times during activities. Mandated for all BCE Staff

STEP 2

Entrants should be asked to wear a mask when approaching the temp taker and should wear mask at all times indoor. Once indoor during activity coaches and players are not required to wear masks. Once the activity is completed masks should be worn. After presenting an entry approval staff or coach should measure body temp with a contactless thermometer and reject entry for anyone whose temp is higher than 100.4 F.

Rejections should be asked to open the screening tool and click the “you may be sick” link at the bottom and strictly follow the CDC instructions.

Coaches should have Lysol spray or another CDC approved disinfectant and spray basketballs and equipment on breaks or at least after every hour of activity.
