NFBO Official’s Minimum Standard Requirements

- We are an integral partner with coaches and league officials and are dedicated to creating a positive environment for youth basketball – your actions and words need to exemplify this partnership.
- Required uniforms are black and white shirt, black shorts, black shoes and socks are required.
- To be a “great” partner. Starting with arriving 15 minutes prior to your game time. Be approachable, trust and always be willing to help your partner.
- Be a positive part of the game. Effectively communicate with the scorekeeper, players and coaches in a manner that creates healthy interaction. Always take the high road with fans and properly manage their interactions.
- Effectively use game management skills to de-escalate situations with coaches and players. Use tools such as warnings and technicals appropriately.
- For younger ages, provide some general guidance when necessary. Don’t wait for them to make a mistake.
- Veteran Officials – share your wealth of knowledge and game experience with the less experienced officials.
- Be receptive to other officials – build teamwork and fellowship.
- Always come with the intent to improve your game.
- Show leadership and initiative with your partners – hustle and rotate accordingly.
