Spring Summer Coaching/Training Intent

Jr NBA Spring Season

We currently have over 90 players who have specifically stated they would like to play local and travel tournaments this season not even counting a lot of skilled players who will be returning after MS and HS playoffs conclude over the next 2 weeks. On top of that, it looks like we will also have record individual registration and number of teams playing in Spring Jr NBA.

So there is a lot of need in our local basketball community for responsible adults to lead/train players.

We are working on team organization and currently, it looks like in most scenarios we will try to organize the BC IDP players into even teams, so if we are doing a tournament on a weekend the players who did not make it on a tournament team that weekend will be able to still have enough to play. In some cases, we may have to schedule 2 Jr NBA games in a weekend to make up for a tournament weekend where we don’t have enough to play. Although as we get further into Jr NBA registration if there is a division with enough advanced teams and we feel confident in a certain group of players that we know will be the same tournament team through the season then they may be assembled as a JrNBA & Tournament team.

Spring/Summer Tournament Season

The tournaments we will participate in are decided based on coach and player availability, approximately 2-3 weeks out from a tournament and sometimes within a week based on certain factors. The regional real AAU tournaments we know we would like to attend.

  • ESPN AAU March 24-26 – 50%
  • ESPN AAU Easter April 7-9 – 25%
  • ESPN AAU Memorial May 27-29 – 100% (we will take as many players to this particular tournament as we can)
  • ESPN National in June 75% (we will take as many players to this particular tournament as we can)

All of these ESPN tournaments are more expensive for teams and spectators, but the increased cost is marginal when comparing the experience/value compared to all other tournaments, especially considering that hotel and Airbnb stays in Orlando are usually very affordable. Also because these events are run by the AAU National office the number of teams are so large that if we have the coaching support we can take more kids because there is a much wider range of skill to play and AAU National typically does a MUCH better job of age verification than regional AAU or most other tournament organizers.

Please let us know the level of involvement you would like to have this coming season.
