Blue Chip Rec/Comp Player

4-12 Grade
Volunteer Coach

Same pro referees that officiate local MS & HS games

This is the default registration for individual players looking for team placement

Historically teams are structured
based on registration composition usually across
1 or 2 grades (i.e. 5/6th 7/8th) Sometimes into grade school, Middle School then HS JV & Varsity divisions.
Typically teams are all placed in 1 big division and matchups and schedules are released weekly for 3-4 weeks and teams move up based on demonstrated skill. Then final divisions are created for pool play and then based on the number of teams the top divisions have a playoff tournament and the teams that did not make the playoff cutoff will have a consolation game. A team usually plays 8-11 games in a season.

This registration cost covers games only
Practice days/times & locations are solely based on the volunteer coach’s discretion. Some coaches may only play games or hold a 1-hour practice a week or some may schedule 2 or more practices a week. Based on weather and court availability you may just have games.

If more consistent gym practice and/or a staff coach is something you are looking for then make sure to answer YES in your registration questions, so if we have coach/gym availability you may have upgrade options during the process.

THIS IS NOT PAY TO PLAY
We request coaches give a minimum playing time per player of at least 5 minutes per half, but Coaches have sole discretion on a player’s playing time. If for some reason you don’t like the coach you are assigned to for your first season make sure to take note of other coaches during the season and then request or ask them to select your player in subsequent seasons.

If you/your player wants to play 5v5 full-court basketball but:
– Needs a guarantee of minimum playing time
– Cant handle emotions that come with winning or losing (sometimes by wide margins)
– Are not flexible with changing practice schedules due to weather or school gym availability changes

Then Blue Chip is probably not for you as there are plenty of other great programs available in North Florida.

THE EVALUATION PROCESS
Individual players looking for teams may attend a filmed evaluation and coaches looking for players will draft from our private online draft board. Coaches generally look at factors of demonstrated skill/athleticism during filmed evaluation and possibly the willingness to add on indoor gym practice option. i.e. which would require a gym practice fee.

For example, a coach that has a team of 5 players with a gym available will start drafting to fill their roster in the 6th round and will look at players they think are the best fit who select Yes to adding gym practices. Ones who select no trying to minimize cost usually limit themselves to coaches who have an outdoor practice location.

If a player is not able to be placed on a team then the registration & uniform costs will be refunded. After a player is placed and the first game starts there are no refunds for any reason.
